PBG is pleased to announce the comprehensive art project that features the overall works by Kim Sunwoo, who talks about the dreams of modern people and freedom through Dodo Bird, along with various visual elements. It is the first art collaboration project that colors the entire space of a department store, which is a symbol of commercial space, into an art space and brings an overview of a new group of paintings, limited editions, art products, installations, and media works for becoming the small island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. This noteworthy exhibition invites people to experience the pleasant and hopeful energy and new artistic attempts by Kim.

Kim Sunwoo

Kim Sunwoo encountered the tragedy of the dodos by chance and he suddenly projected a modern man on the dodos who had forgotten how to fly due to the comfortable environment. For him the modern man who lives under the standardized rules even forgetting own desires looked same as the dodos who had degenerated themselves. In that sense, Kim's dodos are not just cute creatures and the jungle presented as a background is neither just a beautiful landscape, but it is a metaphor for our society where unpredictable dangers always lurk. Nevertheless, the hope still remains in his landscape with dodos.

Rondi Park examines the extremely personal traces surrounding desires and expands the category to popular sympathy and social phenomena. The artist who collects fragments of desire seething in a capitalist society and develops them into various media - such as painting, textiles, performance, and ceramics - develops her own narrative using the constantly reproduced desires as a medium.
