ARTIST PROFILE
PBG is pleased to present a solo exhibition of artist Lee Jaemin Island Fever taking place at Gana Forum Space from May 30th running through June 19th, 2025. Lee Jaemin is a Korean diaspora artist living in Singapore who has been consistently working with the theme of being a “stranger”. The exhibition showcases 24 paintings, including an array of her new body of works Island Fever along with My Table series for which she is best known. This time, the exhibition focuses on highlighting the artist's ceaseless passion for undiscovered artistic achievement.

"Island Fever" is a term derived from Hawaii and refers to a phenomenon in which people living on islands long for greater continents. The artist has consistently captured inner conflicts she suffers as a stranger to changing living environments – she previously studied in St. Petersburg, Russia and currently lives in the tropical country of Singapore. However, over time, her eyes has expanded to feelings of longing, curiosity, and even challenge for the new world. This is where the exhibition Island Fever aligns with her works. It represents the artist's desire and endeavor to discover unseen world and constantly seek for unexperienced artistic achievements. The exhibition intends to deliver the artist's state of mind and resonate to the audience.

Living in Singapore, Lee Jaemin focuses on emotions and daily life experiences of being a foreigner in another country. By using thick brushstrokes and a broad spectrum of colors, she tells personal narratives. Her series such as “Walking in the Jungle”, inspired by Singapore’s exotic nature, and “Stranger”, depicting the emotions and inner feelings of being and stranger, capture the emotions felt in everyday life.
