Lee Jiyeon

Lee Jiyeon captures sensory experiences through her works, including her Walkway and Bouquet series, both of which embrace the essence of nature. She transforms the sensations she has seen, touched, and traced with her eyes into a new visual language. The Walkway series unfolds as a creative interpretation of her interactions with nature, while the Bouquet series presents a more subjective selection and arrangement of natural elements. This process of selection seems to stem less from contemplation of nature itself and more from the artist’s exploration of painterly concerns. The cone-like shape formed at the base of the bouquets visually hints at this creative process. For her, painting is a direct expression of the sensory impressions she experiences. Through her work, she conveys the richness and vibrance of the nature - fresh, tangy, crisp, tender, rough, smooth, translucent, light, resilient, and endlessly expansive - providing the viewers with a visually refreshing and multi-sensory experience.
