PBG is pleased to introduce Neo-Pop genre, a trend of contemporary art attracting the most attention lately, through the artworks of Japanese artists. Japan's Neo-Pop is a new style that embodies the unique identity of Japan from the existing high-class culture based on the "otaku" culture in the economic recession of the 1990s.It has become a keyword representing Japan's postmodern phenomenon. While pop art in the past reflected reality, Neo-Pop has the characteristics of shifting from reality to merchantability, and Japan’s Neo-Pop expresses the experiences and trend of the times of the artists themselves. The exhibition features the work of Murakami Takashi, the founder of “Superflat", and nine artists who are active on the international stage in succession of Murakami.
