Miryang Lim, b. 1968
임미량은 눈에 보이지 않지만 분명히 존재하는 에너지와 기억, 시간을 재료 삼아 추상 작업을 전개하는 작가다. 작은 마디들을 촘촘히 쌓아 큰 흐름을 만들어내는 구조적인 화면은 변화와 확장, 무한한 가능성의 감각을 전달한다.

《Going #260》는 임미량의 대표 연작 '고잉(Going)'을 달항아리 위에 얹은 작업이다. 작가는 완전한 좌우대칭이 아닌 미세한 어긋남과 흔들림 속에서도 스스로 완전함을 이루는 달항아리의 존재 방식에서, 보이지 않는 손길과 불의 시간을 견뎌낸 흔적을 자신의 작업 태도와 닮은 지점으로 보았다. 흰 백자가 지닌 고요함 속의 비어 있음, 무엇이든 담아낼 수 있는 담담함과 달리, '고잉' 연작은 어떠한 고난이 와도 묵묵히 자신의 길을 걸어가겠다는 강한 의지의 표현이다. 항아리 본연의 형태와 여백을 해치지 않으면서 그 위에 자신의 에너지와 색, 선을 자연스럽게 얹기 위해, 어디까지 그리고 어디에서 멈춰야 하는지 그 아슬아슬한 균형을 세심하게 조율했다.

About the Artist
1968년 태어난 임미량은 《Retour à la Lumière》(갤러리 리샤르, 파리, 2026), 《Whirling Movement of the Wind》(갤러리아명품관 WEST, 서울, 2025), 《Colors of the Wind》(갤러리 리샤르, 파리 · 롯데갤러리 에비뉴엘, 서울) 등 국내외에서 다수의 개인전을 열었다. 아시아 나우(파리), 웨스트 번드 아트 앤 디자인(상하이), 아트부산 등 주요 아트페어와 프린트베이커리 기획전 《Love Meets Hope》(2024)에 참여했으며, 2024년에는 파리 시떼 국제 예술가 레지던시에 입주했다. 이번 프린트베이커리(PBG)의 프리즈 서울 프로젝트 《THE MOON JAR CONSTELLATION》에는 대표 연작 '고잉(Going)'을 달항아리 위로 옮긴 신작으로 참여한다.
Lim Miryang develops abstract work from energy, memory, and time — things unseen yet unmistakably present. Her paintings emerge where chance and her own intuition meet and settle into one another, holding energy that moves within stillness. Structured surfaces, in which small segments accumulate densely into larger currents, convey a sense of change, expansion, and boundless possibility; the repeating segments function beyond formal elements, as devices that awaken emotion and transmit energy.
Born in 1968, Lim Miryang has held numerous solo exhibitions in Korea and abroad, including Retour à la Lumière (Galerie Richard, Paris, 2026), Whirling Movement of the Wind (Galleria Luxury Hall WEST, Seoul, 2025), and Colors of the Wind (Galerie Richard, Paris, and Lotte Gallery Avenuel, Seoul). She has participated in major art fairs including Asia Now (Paris), West Bund Art & Design (Shanghai), and Art Busan, as well as Print Bakery's Love Meets Hope (2024), and took up a residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris in 2024. Her work has entered collections including that of Louis Vuitton. For PBG's Frieze Seoul project THE MOON JAR CONSTELLATION, she brings her signature Going series onto the surface of the moon jar.
