ARTIST PROFILE
PBG presents Unveiling, a solo exhibition by Lee Sangmin. Bringing together the trajectory of the artist's long-standing exploration of glass sculpture, the exhibition offers a renewed perspective on the sensory possibilities created through the interplay of light, materiality, and space. The title, Unveiling, refers to the process through which concealed forms gradually emerge, encapsulating a central concept that runs throughout Lee Sangmin's artistic practice.

Lee Sangmin approaches glass not merely as a material but as a sculptural language that captures and transforms light. Rather than emphasizing fixed form, his work investigates the accumulation of time and traces within the material, as well as its relationship to surrounding space. As viewers shift their position and natural light changes, each work continuously generates new visual experiences, proposing sculpture as something completed not by a static form but through the act of perception itself.

This solo exhibition presents a comprehensive view of Lee Sangmin's sculptural language while inviting audiences to encounter familiar forms through an entirely new sensory lens. Through moments in which previously unseen perceptions are gradually revealed, Unveiling proposes new possibilities for the expanding language of contemporary sculpture.

Lee Sangmin is a Korean artist whose practice explores the relationship between materiality and immateriality through the interplay of glass and light. He developed a distinctive sculptural language that combines carved and polished glass surfaces with changing light conditions to evoke forms that appear and disappear in the present moment. His works invite viewers into a contemplative experience of perception, memory, and temporality.
