Print Bakery's exclusive artist Chung Shin's solo exhibition "Walking along the still life" will be held in Print Bakery at Shinsegae Department Store Centum City Branch from August 31 to September 15, 2022. The artist, Chung Shin, depicts still objects resembling the human body with charcoal on a well-maintained white background, in soft and comfortable manner. In this exhibition, the artist's more colorful lines and fruits will be presented.
In a quiet rural village, the artist spends most of her time in the studio and on the grass in front of her studio. On the outside of the studio, the sound of nature, such as the sound of magpies, frogs, grass bugs, and of leaves waving along the wind, never stops. When you walk on the grass in the yard, the friendly senses, such as the smell of soil and wet stones, and the smell of a rural furnace, soothe your mind.
In this new series of works, the artist calls the lines a 'walk'. It captures still lives with the beauty of its lines with charcoal, as if you are stepping on the grass in the yard step by step. The neat and lively flowers, hard and rich fruits, and soft and delicate leaves in the work are walking paths where the artist walks slowly on the screen. Even in the busy and tiring day, the artist hopes that the viewers could feel the comfort and peace of mind in the lines of charcoal.

Chung Shin

Seeking lines that comfort the heart, the artist says that imagining the coziness of being indoors, moderate splendor, and fruits rolling in the sun arouses the sensation of good feelings. Having done work based on drawings, the artist focuses on revealing through lines the immediacy of drawing as well as the visibility of various concepts that are occasionally revealed raw. Through a warm gaze, ubiquitous but not visible to everyone, the artist attempts to convey a bright and cheerful energy to modern people living busy everyday lives.
